Who are the top Kansas City Chiefs of all time? Here is our top 10 countdown:
10. Johnny Robinson: with 57 career interceptions, Robinson played his entire career with the franchise and earned seven Pro Bowls and six All-Pro selections while twice leading the league in picks; moreover, he was part of three AFL title teams and the Super Bowl IV-winning squad.
9. Will Shields: one of the best guards of his era, Shields spent his entire 14-year Hall of Fame career with the Chiefs and never missed a regular season game, in the process earning a dozen Pro Bowl and a pair of All-Pro selections.
8. Willie Lanier: a Hall of Fame middle linebacker who played his entire career with the Chiefs, Lanier was an 8x Pro Bowler and 3x All-Pro who won both an AFL title and Super Bowl IV with Kansas City.
7. Buck Buchanan: the #1 overall pick in the 1963 AFL Draft, Buchanan made eight straight Pro Bowl and four straight All-Pro teams during his Hall of Fame career while helping the Chiefs win Super Bowl IV.
6. Travis Kelce: the single-season record holder for receiving yards by a tight end (1,416 in 2020), Kelce is a 7x Pro Bowler and 3x All-Pro who was named to the 2010s All-Decade Team and led Kansas City to their first Super Bowl title in more than a half-century.
5. Patrick Mahomes: the highest-paid player in NFL history and arguably the best quarterback in the league currently, Mahomes has achieved almost everything in his young career to-date: four Pro Bowls, an All-Pro selection, an MVP award, a 5,000-yard and 50-touchdown season, and a Super Bowl title all before the age of 25.
4. Len Dawson: a 7x Pro Bowl and 2x All-Pro selection across 14 seasons with the franchise, Dawson not only led the Chiefs to three AFL titles, but also quarterbacked Kansas City to a victory in Super Bowl IV and remains the team’s all-time passing leader (for now).
3. Bobby Bell: the 1969 Defensive Player of the Year, Bell was a 9x Pro Bowl and 6x All-Pro linebacker/defensive end who played an integral role in a pair of AFL titles and the team’s first Super Bowl win.

Derrick Thomas: with an NFL-record seven sacks in one game, Thomas assumed the mantle from Lawrence Taylor as the league’s best pass-rushing outside linebacker and had seven double-digit sack seasons, including a career-high 20.0 in 1990, en route to 126.5 career sacks, nine Pro Bowls, and a pair of All-Pro nods.
1. Tony Gonzalez: the most prolific tight end in NFL history, Gonzalez played his first dozen seasons in Kansas City and set a then-single season record at the position with 102 receptions in 2004; overall, he was a 10x Pro Bowler and 5x All-Pro in a Chiefs uniform.
