Who are the top St. Louis Blues of all time? Here is our top 10 countdown:
10. Red Berenson: one of the greatest NCAA hockey coaches ever (at his alma mater Michigan), Berenson was also an excellent player in his own right – over his 17-year NHL career, he spent seven-and-half seasons with the Blues across two different stints, notably finishing top-five for the Hart Trophy in back-to-back seasons in 1968-1969 and 1969-1970.
9. Brian Sutter: part of the famous Sutter family NHL dynasty, Brian played his entire 12-year career with the Blues and was an excellent two-way forward with six 30-goal seasons (including 2x with 40+ goals), a pair of top-10 Hart finishes, and three straight seasons in consideration for the Selke Trophy.
8. Keith Tkachuk: one of the best power forwards in league history, Tkachuk spent eight-and-half seasons with the Blues and posted three consecutive 30-goal seasons with the team as part of 538 career goals and 1,065 career points.
7. Alex Pietrangelo: during his dozen seasons with the Blues, Pietrangelo finished top-10 for the Norris Trophy 4x and most notably, captained the team to its first-ever Stanley Cup title in 2018-2019.
6. Garry Unger: an iron man who played a then-record 914 consecutive NHL games, Unger spent nine seasons in his prime with the Blues, racking up eight straight 30-goal seasons in the 1970s.
5. Mike Liut: arguably the best goalie in franchise history, Liut played half-a-dozen years in a Blues uniform and is the team’s all-time leader in nearly every major goaltending category; the highlight of his time in St. Louis was the 1980-1981 season, when he won the Pearson Award and finished as runner-up for the Hart Trophy.
4. Al MacInnis: known for his blistering slapshot, MacInnis came over to St. Louis from the Calgary Flames for the last decade of his career; during that time, he won the Norris Trophy in 1998-1999 and finished top-10 on four other occasions en route to the Hall of Fame.
3. Chris Pronger: a towering and imposing presence on the blue line, Pronger won both the Hart and Norris Trophies with the Blues in 1999-2000, thus becoming the first defenseman to be named league MVP since Bobby Orr; additionally, he also finished top-five as the league’s top defenseman four other times across nine seasons in St. Louis.
2. Bernie Federko: the seventh overall pick by St. Louis in 1976, Federko spent all but one season of his NHL career with the Blues, scoring 30+ goals 7x and 100+ points 4x to finish as the franchise career leader in games played, assists, and points.

Brett Hull: the son of legendary goal scorer Bobby Hull, Brett was elite in his own right in putting the puck into the net – across a decade plus with the Blues, he had three consecutive seasons between 1989 and 1992 of 70+ goals, including a career-high 86 in 1990-1991, en route to becoming the franchise’s all-time career leader in goals.
