Who are the top dual-threat quarterbacks in NFL history?  Here is our top 10 countdown:

10. Donovan McNabb: a 6x Pro Bowler who led the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl XXXIX, McNabb passed for 37,276 yards and 234 touchdowns, while also adding 3,459 yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground.

9. Michael Vick: the most prolific running quarterback in NFL history, Vick has 6,109 career rushing yards and is the only quarterback to rush for 1,000+ yards in a season (1,039 in 2006).

8. Cam Newton: built like a linebacker at 6’5” and 250 pounds, Newton was the 2015 MVP and had over 32,000 career passing yards and 5,600 career rushing yards (which currently ranks second all-time behind only Vick).

7. Russell Wilson: a 9x Pro Bowler who led the Seattle Seahawks to a win in Super Bowl XLVIII, Wilson is one of the premier dual-threat quarterbacks in the NFL today, having amassed over 38,000 passing yards and 4,700 rushing yards in his career thus far.

6. Lamar Jackson: arguably the most dynamic running quarterback ever, Jackson has already rushed for 4,000 yards in his first five NFL seasons, including 1,000+ yards in a season 2x and the single-season record by a quarterback with 1,206 rushing yards in his 2019 MVP season.

5. Randall Cunningham: known as the Ultimate Weapon, Cunningham was the PFWA MVP in 1990 after passing for 3,466 yards and 30 touchdowns and running for 942 yards and 5 touchdowns; overall, he compiled close to 30,000 passing yards and 5,000 rushing yards during his career.

4. Roger Staubach: though he only played for 10 NFL seasons, Staubach was a 6x Pro Bowler and 2x Super Bowl champion who excelled with both his arm and his legs, passing for 22,700 yards and rushing for 2,264 yards during his Hall of Fame career.

3. Fran Tarkenton: a 9x Pro Bowler and the 1975 MVP, Tarkenton was a Hall of Fame quarterback who upon retirement, held a number of quarterback records, including most passing yards (47,003), passing touchdowns (342), and rushing yards (3,674).

2. John Elway: a Hall of Fame quarterback whose accomplishments include two Super Bowl titles, an MVP, and nine Pro Bowls, Elway was arguably better known for his arm (51,475 career passing yards and 300 passing touchdowns), but was also elusive with his feet (3,407 career rushing yards).

1. Steve Young: arguably the greatest left-handed quarterback in NFL history, Young won two MVPs and three Super Bowls (two as a backup to Joe Montana, one as the starter) en route to the Hall of Fame; not only did he lead the NFL in passer rating 6x, but he is also fifth all-time in quarterback rushing yards (4,239) and scored 43 touchdowns on the ground.
