Who are the top Miami Dolphins of all time?  Here is our top 10 countdown:

10. Paul Warfield: after coming over from the Cleveland Browns, Warfield was an explosive downfield receiving threat for the Dolphins (he averaged over 20 yards per reception for his career); a 5x Pro Bowler and 2x All-Pro with Miami, he played an instrumental role in both 1970s Super Bowl-winning teams.

9. Mark Clayton: one half of the “Marks Brothers” receiving duo (along with Mark Duper), Clayton was a 5x Pro Bowler in a decade with Miami who twice led the NFL in receiving touchdowns, including a then single-season record 18 scores in 1984, en route to becoming the team’s all-time career leader in receptions and receiving touchdowns.

8. Zach Thomas: an undersized, but tenacious linebacker, Thomas played all but his final NFL season with the Dolphins, racking up over 1,600 total tackles en route to seven Pro Bowl and five All-Pro nods.

7. Nick Buoniconti: the defensive anchor of the 1970s Dolphins dynasty, Buonconti came to Miami for the second half of his career; in addition to making three Pro Bowl and one All-Pro Team with the team, he guided them to back-to-back Super Bowl-winning seasons, including the famous 17-0 1972 perfect season.

6. Dwight Stephenson: though he was forced to retire at age 30 due to a knee injury, Stephenson was arguably the top center of the 1980s, making five straight Pro Bowl and four consecutive All-Pro Teams to close out his Hall of Fame career.

5. Larry Little: a Hall of Fame offensive guard, Little spent a dozen years with the Dolphins, winning two Super Bowls with the 1970s dynasty and individually earning five Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections.

4. Larry Csonka: a hard-nosed fullback for the 1970s Dolphins, Csonka is the franchise leader in career rushing yards and touchdowns; he was a 5x Pro Bowler and 2x All-Pro in his prime with three straight 1,000-yard seasons and a pair of Super Bowl titles, including MVP of Super Bowl VIII.

3. Jason Taylor: the Dolphins’ all-time career leader in sacks (131.0), Taylor had three separate stints with Miami, earning six Pro Bowl and three All-Pro selections, highlighted by a 2006 Defensive Player of the Year campaign.

2. Bob Griese: an 8x Pro Bowl and 2x All-Pro quarterback who spent his entire 14-year NFL career with Miami, Griese led the Dolphins to three straight Super Bowl appearances from 1971 to 1973, winning both Super Bowls VII and VIII.

1. Dan Marino: though he was the sixth quarterback selected in 1983 during the famous “Year of the Quarterback”, Marino arguably had the best NFL career – though he never won a Super Bowl with the Dolphins, he was MVP in 1984 and retired with league records for both single-season and career passing yards and touchdowns (all since broken).
