Who are the top Los Angeles Chargers of all time?  Here is our top 10 countdown:

10. John Hadl: a 5x Pro Bowler in his 11 seasons with the Chargers, Hadl was for many years the most prolific quarterback in franchise history, passing for nearly 27,000 yards and over 200 touchdowns with the team.

9. Ron Mix: a force on the offensive line, Mix played a decade with the Chargers and racked up eight Pro Bowl and nine All-Pro selections while leading the team to an AFL title in 1963.

8. Philip Rivers: acquired in a 2004 draft day trade, Rivers rewrote most of the Chargers’ career passing records while earning eight Pro Bowl selections in his 16 seasons with the franchise.

7. Charlie Joiner: the leading receiver in NFL history upon his retirement, Joiner spent 11 of his 18 NFL seasons with the Chargers and had his most productive years as part of the Air Coryell offense, highlighted by being a 3x Pro Bowler and 1x All-Pro.

6. Antonio Gates: an undrafted free agent college basketball star with no college football experience, Gates played his entire 16-year career with the Chargers; he is not only the franchise career receiving leader with eight Pro Bowl and three All-Pro selections, but is also the most prolific scoring tight end in NFL history with 116 career receiving touchdowns.

5. Kellen Winslow Sr.: a key cog in the Dan Fouts-led Air Coryell offense, Winslow only played nine NFL seasons (all with the Chargers), but led the NFL in receptions in back-to-back seasons in 1980-1981 and had three consecutive All-Pro seasons, at one point holding the tight end records for most receptions and most receiving yards in a season.

4. Junior Seau: arguably the best linebacker of the 1990s, Seau spent 13 of his 20 NFL seasons as the heart and soul of the Chargers, racking up a dozen straight Pro Bowl selections along with six All-Pro nods

Dan Fouts: the linchpin of the Air Coryell offense, Fouts initially struggled with the Chargers, but went on to lead the league in passing yards for four straight years (including setting a then-NFL record with 4,802 passing yards in a season in 1981), in the process earning six Pro Bowl selections and a pair of All-Pro nods, as well as NEA MVP, PFWA MVP, and Offensive Player of the Year in 1982.

Lance Alworth: arguably the greatest wide receiver in AFL history, Alworth played nine seasons with the Chargers (7x Pro Bowler and 6x All-Pro) and led the team to a championship in 1963; moreover, he was the first player to average 100+ receiving yards per game in consecutive seasons and still holds a number of career receiving records, including most 200+ yard games (5) and most 70+ yard touchdowns (12).

LaDainian Tomlinson: one of the most prolific touchdown scorers in NFL history, Tomlinson was a 5x Pro Bowl and 3x All-Pro selection across nine seasons as a Charger and is the franchise’s career rushing leader; moreover, he scored an astounding 153 touchdowns with the team, including a record 31 touchdowns in his 2006 MVP season.
