Who are the top San Antonio Spurs of all time?  Here is our top 10 countdown:

10. Sean Elliott: before a kidney issue led to his premature retirement, Elliott spent all but one season of his NBA career with the Spurs (he was traded to the Detroit Pistons for Dennis Rodman, but traded back to San Antonio after one season) and was a 2x All-Star who averaged 14.2 points per game and helped the team to its first championship.

9. James Silas: the only player ever to suit up for the Spurs in both the ABA and NBA as well as their predecessor team the Dallas Chaparrals, Silas was a 2x All-Star and 2x All-ABA selection who posted 16.1 points per game for his career.

8. Bruce Bowen: a defensive stalwart for three Spurs championship teams, Bowen was an 8x All-Defensive selection consistently called upon to lock down the opposing team’s top scorer.

7. Avery Johnson: the starting point guard for the Spurs in the 1990s, Johnson helped guide the team to its first NBA title and retired as the all-time games played leader for an undrafted player (later surpassed by Ben Wallace).

6. Kawhi Leonard: during his seven seasons with San Antonio, Leonard was a versatile force – a 2x All-Star, 2x All-NBA selection, 4x All-Defensive pick, and 2x Defensive Player of the Year, he moreover was NBA Finals MVP in 2013-2014.

5. Manu Ginobili: part of San Antonio’s “Big Three” alongside Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, Ginobili was an incredibly versatile and clutch player, alternating between All-Star-caliber starter and super-sub (2007-2008 Sixth Man of the Year) while helping the Spurs to four NBA titles.

4. Tony Parker: one of the fastest players in the NBA in his prime, Parker was the engine that helped spur (pun intended) San Antonio to four NBA titles, in the process racking up six All-Star and four All-NBA selections during his long career.

3. George Gervin: perhaps the NBA’s preeminent scorer of the late 1970s and early 1980s, Gervin won four scoring titles with the Spurs (including three straight scoring crowns); overall, the 12x All-Star and 7x All-NBA selection averaged 25.1 points per game for his career.

2. David Robinson: in his prime, Robinson was one of the most athletic, versatile, and consistent big men in the game – in addition to winning both an MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honors, he also recorded the most recent quadruple-double in NBA history in 1994.

1. Tim Duncan: a franchise cornerstone and consistently dominant force on both ends of the court (15x All-Star, 15x All-NBA, and 15x All-Defensive), Duncan won two MVPs while leading the Spurs to five NBA titles, earning Finals MVP in the process 3x.
