Who are the top right wingers in NHL history? Here is our top 10 countdown:
10. Jarome Iginla: the heart and soul of the Calgary Flames for more than 15 years, Iginla was a skilled power forward who tallied an even 1,300 career points (625 goals and 675 assists) with a slew of individual awards: 2x Richard, 1x Pearson, 1x Ross, 1x Clancy, and 1x Messier.
9. Teemu Selanne: the highest-scoring Finn in league history, Selanne burst onto the scene with a rookie-record 76 goals, and went on to score 684 goals (4x scoring 50+ goals) and rack up 1,457 points during his 21-year NHL career.
8. Patrick Kane: perhaps the greatest American player ever, Kane was the first US-born player to win the Hart and Ross Trophies and has won three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks while amassing over 1,000 career points.
7. Jari Kurri: perhaps the best all-around player on the Oilers dynasty of the 1980s, Kurri led the league in goals scored once and the playoffs in goals scored 4x while winning five Stanley Cups with Edmonton; upon retirement, he was the highest scoring Finn in league history, as well as the top career scorer among European-born and bred players.
6. Brett Hull: the son of legendary goal scorer Bobby Hull, Brett was elite in his own right in putting the puck into the net – he had three consecutive seasons between 1989 and 1992 of 70+ goals, including a career-high 86 in 1990-1991, en route to 741 career goals, the 1990-1991 Hart Trophy and Pearson Award, and a pair of Stanley Cup titles.
5. Mike Bossy: though he only played for 10 seasons, Bossy scored 50+ goals in nine straight years (2x leading the NHL) and has the highest goals-per-game average in NHL history (0.762); he also won the Lady Byng 3x and led the New York Islanders to four straight Stanley Cup titles with a Conn Smythe Trophy.
4. Guy Lafleur: the career scoring leader for the fabled Montreal Canadiens franchise, Lafleur won two Hart Trophies, three Ross Trophies, and three Pearson Awards and was the first NHL player with six straight seasons of 50+ goals and 100+ points, while also leading the 1970s Canadiens dynasty to five Stanley Cups.
3. Jaromir Jagr: the second-highest point-scorer in NHL history behind only Wayne Gretzky, Jagr is a 5x Ross Trophy, 3x Pearson Award, and 1x Hart Trophy winner who amassed over 1,900 career points over nearly a quarter-decade playing in the league.
2. Maurice Richard: the namesake of the Richard Trophy for top goal-scorer annually, Richard led the league in goal-scoring 5x and accumulated 544 career goals, becoming the first player to score 50 goals in a season (in just 50 games) and 500 goals in a career; moreover, the 1946-1947 Hart Trophy winner guided the Montreal Canadiens to eight Stanley Cup titles in his 18 seasons with the team.
1. Gordie Howe: Mr. Hockey himself, Howe played an incredible 25 years with the Detroit Red Wings and won six Hart and Ross Trophies each while guiding the team to four Stanley Cup titles and retiring as the NHL’s all-time career scoring leader (though he has since been surpassed by Wayne Gretzky).
