Who are the top Dallas Stars of all time? Here is our top 10 countdown:
10. Joe Nieuwendyk: while his best offensive seasons came with the Calgary Flames, Nieuwendyk was a solid producer in six-and-half years with Dallas, highlighted by winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP during the team’s 1998-1999 Stanley Cup run.
9. Brian Bellows: the #2 overall pick by the former Minnesota North Stars in 1982, Bellows spent the first decade of his career with the franchise and scored 722 of his 1,022 career points in a Minnesota uniform, highlighted by a career-best 55-goal, 99-point campaign in 1989-1990.
8. Dino Ciccarelli: despite going undrafted, Ciccarelli went on to have a Hall of Fame career; his first eight-and-half seasons were spent with the North Stars, where he had a pair of 100-point seasons and totaled 651 of his 1,200 career points.
7. Ed Belfour: in his half-decade with the Stars, Belfour not only won 160 games, earned the Jennings Trophy in 1998-1999, and finished top-10 for the Vezina 3x, but backstopped the team to its first-ever Stanley Cup title.
6. Jamie Benn: spending his entire career with Dallas thus far, Benn has been the team’s longtime captain and a highly productive offensive player, tallying 700+ career points and winning the Ross Trophy in 2014-2015 (87 points).
5. Marty Turco: the winningest goalie in team history, Turco manned the Dallas net for nearly a decade and won 262 games in a Stars uniform, highlighted by three consecutive top-five Vezina finishes in the early to mid-2000s.
4. Jere Lehtinen: spending his entire 14-year NHL career with the Stars, Lehtinen was a key member of the Stanley Cup-winning team and one of the league’s best two-way forwards, tallying 514 career points and winning the Selke Trophy 3x as top defensive forward.
3. Neal Broten: a member of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” team, Broten had arguably the best NHL career from the gold medal-winning Olympic team; in more than 15 seasons with Minnesota/Dallas, his 867 points were a franchise record until Mike Modano came along.
2. Sergei Zubov: arguably the best Russian-born defenseman in league history, Zubov spent the final dozen years of his career with the Stars, finishing top-10 for the Norris Trophy 6x, winning a Stanley Cup, and scoring the most points from the blueline in team history.

Mike Modano: currently the NHL’s all-time leader in goals and points scored by an American-born player, Modano spent all but one season of his career with Minnesota/Dallas and captained the franchise to its first Stanley Cup; he amassed 561 goals and 813 assists for 1,374 career points and holds most of the franchise’s career offensive records.
