Who are the top Philadelphia Eagles of all time? Here is our top 10 countdown:
10. Zach Ertz: one of the elite receiving tight ends of his era, Ertz was a 3x Pro Bowler who played nine years in Philadelphia and won a Super Bowl; moreover, he set an NFL record with 116 receptions by a tight end in 2018.
9. LeSean McCoy: the franchise career rushing leader, McCoy played the first six seasons of his career in Philadelphia and was a 3x Pro Bowler and 2x All-Pro, leading the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns once apiece.
8. Randall Cunningham: known as the Ultimate Weapon, Cunningham played his first 11 seasons in Philadelphia and most notably made three straight Pro Bowls from 1988-1990, highlighted by winning PFWA MVP in 1990 after passing for 3,466 yards and 30 touchdowns and running for 942 yards and 5 touchdowns.
7. Tommy McDonald: an electric wide receiver despite his diminutive size, McDonald starred for seven seasons with the Eagles in the 1950s and 1960s, twice leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns and once in receiving yards with six Pro Bowls and an NFL title.
6. Harold Carmichael: a behemoth of a receiver at 6’8”, Carmichael spent all but one season of his NFL career as an Eagle, racking up four Pro Bowl selections (including a receiving crown in 1973) and is the team’s all-time leading receiver with nearly 9,000 career yards.
5. Donovan McNabb: a 6x Pro Bowler during his 11 seasons in Philadelphia, McNabb was a dual-threat quarterback who led the Eagles to Super Bowl XXXIX and is the franchise’s all-time leading passer.
4. Brian Dawkins: a hard-hitting and versatile playmaker, Dawkins was a 7x Pro Bowler and 4x All-Pro in his 13 seasons as an Eagle and is the only player in NFL history with at least 25 sacks, 25 interceptions, and 25 forced fumbles (his 36 career forced fumbles are a record for a safety).
3. Steve Van Buren: one of the NFL’s early stars, Van Buren was a 5x All-Pro for the Eagles in the 1940s and 1950s who led the league in rushing yards and touchdowns 4x apiece and guided Philadelphia to a pair of NFL titles.
2. Reggie White: after racking up 23.5 sacks in the two seasons in the since-defunct United States Football League (USFL), White jumped to the Eagles in the NFL in 1985 and went on to post double-digit sacks in all eight of his seasons in Philadelphia (7x Pro Bowl and 6x All-Pro), including a career-best 21.0 sacks in his 1987 Defensive Player of the Year season.
1. Chuck Bednarik: the NFL’s last full-time two-way player, Bednarik was both a center on offense and a linebacker on defense with the Eagles, racking up eight Pro Bowl nods, six All-Pro selections, and two NFL championships during his 14-year career in Philadelphia.
