Who are the top kickers in NFL history?  Here is our top 10 countdown:

10. Stephen Gostkowski: the successor to Adam Vinatieri on the New England Patriots, Gostkowski was a 4x Pro Bowl and 2x All-Pro kicker in his own right who was a part of three Super Bowl championships and holds the record for most consecutive extra points made (523).

9. Jason Elam: a 2x Pro Bowler, Elam was not only part of two Super Bowl-winning teams with the Denver Broncos, but for many years was also tied for the longest field goal ever (63 yards).

8. Jason Hanson: spending his entire 21-year NFL career with the Detroit Lions, Hanson was a 2x Pro Bowler who made 80%+ of his career field goal attempts and was the first player to score 2,000 career points with one franchise.

7. George Blanda: the oldest player to ever play an NFL game (48 years old), Blanda was not only the career leader in points scored and extra points upon his retirement, but was also a standout quarterback, throwing for 236 career touchdowns and winning AFL MVP in 1961.

6. Lou Groza: nicknamed “The Toe”, Groza was one of the first great placekickers, earning nine Pro Bowl and four All-Pro selections while also playing offensive tackle; the award for college football’s best placekicker is named after him.

5. Jan Stenerud: the first kicker to be named to the Hall of Fame, Stenerud was best-known for his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, helping them win Super Bowl IV while earning six Pro Bowl selections and one All-Pro nod.

4. Gary Anderson: no relation to contemporary Morten Andersen, Anderson was an elite kicker in his own right in his 23 NFL seasons – the 4x Pro Bowler and 1x All-Pro was the first kicker to make every regular season field goal and extra point in a season (1998), though infamously missed a field goal that would have sent the Minnesota Vikings to the Super Bowl.

3. Morten Andersen: the highest scorer in NFL history upon his retirement, Andersen played more regular season games than any other player across his 25 seasons; moreover, the 7x Pro Bowler and 3x All-Pro was just the second kicker ever inducted into the Hall of Fame.

2. Justin Tucker: currently the most accurate field goal kicker in league history, Tucker is not only a 6x Pro Bowl and 5x All-Pro selection, but has also won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens and kicked the longest field goal ever (66 yards).

1. Adam Vinatieri: arguably the greatest kicker in NFL history, Vinatieri was a 3x Pro Bowler and 3x All-Pro who holds all-time records for most field goals and points scored, and also won four Super Bowls with the Patriots, kicking the game-winning field goal in two of them.
